Gen. Henry H. Shelton, U.S. Army, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will depart Andrews Air Force Base, Md., on Friday, March 6, 1998, for long-scheduled visit to the U.S. Central Command's area of operation.
He will first travel to Saudi Arabia, arriving on Saturday, March 7, 1998, for a counterpart visit.
The following day, Shelton will attend ministry meetings and visit U.S. military units.
Monday afternoon, March 9, 1998, Shelton will arrive in Kuwait.
On Tuesday, March 10, 1998, Shelton will meet with Kuwaiti ministry officials and his counterpart Lt. Gen. Ali Mohammed Hassan Al-Mu'min.
He will visit U.S. troops at Camp Doha and hold a brief media availability during observation of Intrinsic Action maneuvers at the Udairia'a Range.
The chairman continues to Egypt on Wednesday, March 11, 1998, and will attend meetings with his counterpart, Lt. Gen. Magdi Hatata, and ministry officials.
Thursday morning, March 12, 1998, Shelton will meet with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and afterwards will hold a brief press conference before returning to Washington, D.C., that evening.
