The Department of Defense will conduct two news briefings on the fiscal 2006 DoD budget submission.
Friday, Feb. 4:
11 a.m. EST: Paper copies of the budget documents will be available for news media representatives in the DoD Press Office, Pentagon 2E565. Use of all materials and comments will be embargoed until Monday, Feb. 7, at 10:30 a.m. EST.
1:30 p.m. EST: A senior defense official will conduct a background briefing on the overall budget package in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E579. Attribution will be to a "senior DoD official" upon lifting of the embargo on Monday, Feb. 7, at 10:30 a.m. EST. No cameras will be allowed; tape recordings will be permitted for note taking purposes only.
2:30 p.m. EST: Following the briefing, representatives from DoD and the military services will answer questions in designated Pentagon locations as noted below. Upon lifting of the embargo, these officials will be quoted as "senior (service) budget officials." No cameras will be allowed; tape recordings will be permitted for note taking purposes only.

2 p.m. EST: Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld will conduct a briefing followed by the official announcement of the fiscal 2006 budget submission in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E579.
