Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen will host the inauguration ceremony to stand-up the new Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Oct. 1, 1998, at 2 p.m. (EDT) near Dulles Airport.
The inauguration ceremony will be at the German Military Representative (GMR) Building, Autopilot Drive, Dulles Airport, Va. and is open to media for photo coverage only. There will not be media availability following the ceremony. For security reasons, media must be in place no later than 1 p.m. (EDT). There will be an audio feed of Secretary Cohen's speech piped into the Pentagon.
Prior to the ceremony a press conference will be held at the Pentagon Briefing Room 2E781 at 10 a.m. (EDT). Deputy Secretary of Defense John J. Hamre; Under Secretrary of Defense for Acquistion and Technology Jacques Gansler and Jay Davis, DTRA director-designee will participate in the press conference. Additionally, DTRA subject matter experts will be available to provide background information.
