NAVY MALARIA DNA VACCINE
A team of Navy researchers, headed by Navy Capt. Stephen Hoffman, a physician at the Naval Medical Research Center in Bethesda, Md., has for the first time successfully tested a DNA vaccine against malaria in healthy humans. An article about the team's study will appear in the Oct. 16 issue of Science magazine.
Hoffman and his team will brief the results of their work and answer questions on Thursday, October 15 at 2:30 p.m. (EDT) at the Pentagon in Room 2E781, the DoD briefing room. Press kits will be available at the briefing.
A building pass is needed to get into the Pentagon. Media who wish to attend the briefing and who do not have a building pass should call Lt. Cmdr. Lydia Robertson at the Navy newsdesk, (703) 697-5342, for clearance and escort not later than 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15.
