Gen. John M. Shalikashvili, U.S. Army, chairman of the Joint
Chiefs of Staff, will depart Andrews Air Force Base on Saturday,
March 15, 1997 for California. In San Diego he will serve as the
guest speaker at the Coronado 12th Annual Salute to the Military
Ball which begins at 6:00 p.m.
On Monday, March 17, the chairman will address sailors
onboard the USS Boxer and participate in a San Diego Union
Tribune editorial board before visiting the USS Constellation.
He continues to Camp Pendleton, Calif. for briefings and to
observe Marine demonstrations and operations.
Gen. Shalikashvili will join the Secretary of Defense on
Tuesday, March 18 at Fort Irwin to tour facilities at the
National Training Center before returning to Washington.
