Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman to Visit Korea, Japan and Alaska.
General John M. Shalikashvili, chairman of the Joint Chiefs
of Staff, will depart Andrews Air Force Base, Md., on Sunday,
April 6, 1997, for Korea and Japan with a stopover in Alaska.
During the visit, he will meet with senior government and
military leaders in the host countries and will consult with the
Commander in Chief, UN Command/U.S. Forces Korea; and the
Commander, U.S. Forces Japan. He will also visit American forces
personnel assigned to the region.
General Shalikashvili will return to Washington, D.C. on
April 12.
