Vertical Integration News Media Conference
Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Technology
Paul G. Kaminski will announce a series of Department of Defense
initiatives to counter impacts of vertical integration in the
defense industry at a news briefing, Tuesday, May 6, 1997, at
2:30 p.m. (EDT) in the DoD Briefing Studio, Room 2E781, the
Pentagon.
Consolidation and mergers of the defense industry that began
in the early 90s have raised concerns that vertical integration
in the defense industry may degrade competition and innovation
among sub-tier contractors. A Defense Science Board Task Force
has been assessing this issue and is recommending a DoD response.
