Ft. Myer Fitness Center Photo Op Announced
Assistant Secretary of Defense (Force Management Policy)
Frederick Pang, Executive Director of the President's Council on
Physical Fitness Sandra Perlmutter, and Deputy Secretary of
Defense (Personnel Support, Families and Education) Carolyn
Becraft will hold a photo-opportunity at the Ft. Myer fitness
center, Building 414, Sheridan Avenue, Ft. Myer, Va. on May 20,
1997 at 12:40 p.m. (EDT). The event includes a short briefing
and tour of the fitness center. The photo-op for DoD's
"Operation Be Fit" program will happen at 1:20 p.m.
The "Be Fit" initiative improves and expands DoD's fitness,
sports, and recreation programs. In addition to stressing the
military member's readiness through fitness, "Be Fit" promotes
physical activity for the total military community, based on
findings of the "Surgeon General's Report on Physical Activity
and Health."
