News media representatives are invited to join the commander in chief, U.S. Atlantic Command, Gen. John J. Sheehan, USMC, at the opening ceremony for Exercise Cooperative Nugget 97 on Monday, June 16 at Fort Polk, La. The NATO/Partnership for Peace exercise features approximately 3,300 troops from 17 central and eastern European nations and three NATO countries. It represents an excellent opportunity to see potential new NATO members training alongside U.S. joint forces. Atlantic Command will provide Washington, D.C.-based news media transportation to and from the opening ceremony.
The aircraft will depart from and return to, the Air Force passenger terminal at Andrews AFB, Md. The press center at Andrews will open at 5 a.m. (EDT) Monday, June 16. Media representatives must be there for manifest no later than 5:30 a.m. The aircraft is slated to return to Andrews at approximately 9 p.m.
This event provides an excellent opportunity to acquire b-roll/photos in advance of the Madrid summit.
