The third annual Joint Operations Symposium will be held at Marshall Hall, National Defense University, Ft. McNair, Washington, D.C., June 23 and 24. The two day symposium will focus on the recently released Quadrennial Defense Review and is open to the media.
Panel discussions beginning at 8:30 a.m., June 23, with senior military and civilian officials will provide an overview of the QDR report to Congress and highlight the major strategic themes from the review. One panel will discuss "Shaping the Environment;" a second Fighting and Winning;" and the final session of the first conference day will look at "Planning for the Future." All discussions will be within the context of the QDR report. The second day of the conference will feature a presentation on a JCS-developed wargame called "Dynamic Commitment" which was one of the force structure assessment tools in the QDR process. In addition to the panels, senior defense community leaders will address the conference. The symposium will conclude at 2 p.m., June 24.
