Deputy Secretary White departs for Belgium, Bosnia, The Czech Republic, Moldova and Russia

Deputy Secretary of Defense John P. White departed from Andrews Air Force Base, Md., Thursday, 19 June for Belgium, the Czech Republic, Bosnia, Moldova and Russia.

White will visit NATO military headquarters in Mons, Belgium, for meetings with Gen. George A. Joulwan, NATO supreme allied commander, Europe, and with Colonel General Leonty Pavlovich Shevtsov, the Russian military representative to NATO.

In Bosnia, White will visit NATO, U.S. and Russian commanders and troops of the Stabilization Force. Additionally, he will meet with leaders of the international organizations operating in Bosnia.

In Prague, Czech Republic, White will address participants in a NATO conference hosted by Gen. Joulwan and hold a series of bilateral meetings with defense ministers of five European countries.

White will visit senior government officials in Chisinau, Moldova, as well as representatives of the Moldovan Parliament. He will also visit the headquarters of Moldova's 2nd Motorized Infantry Brigade and observe field training exercises.

In Moscow, Russia, White is scheduled to meet with Defense Minister General Igor Sergeyev, and other Russian defense and military officials.

White will return to Andrews Air Force Base on Saturday, 28 June.
