Paintless aircraft press conference.
Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Environmental Security Sherri W. Goodman and Acting Under Secretary of the Navy Robert Pirie will hold a press conference on Thursday, July 17, 1997 at 2 p.m. (EDT) at the Naval Air Station Patuxent River to unveil new technology that replaces paint on military aircraft. Remarks will also be made by the Joint Strike Fighter Program Director Rear Adm.Craig E. Steidle.
This technology represents a major environmental breakthrough that could save the Defense Department billions of dollars. The first "paintless" military aircraft, an F-18, will be on display at the press conference.
