Dale Vesser, deputy to the special assistant for Gulf War illnesses, will release the latest in a series of case narratives and the first information paper related to the ongoing investigation into the possible causes of Gulf War illnesses, on Tuesday, July 29, 1997, following the DoD News Briefing scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in Pentagon briefing studio, Room 2E781. The narrative focuses on the reported detection and possible exposure associated with the 1st and 2nd Marine Divisions' breaching operations through two minefields in southern Kuwait on the morning of February 24, 1991. The information paper gives a technical and in-depth description of the Fox nuclear biological and chemical reconnaissance vehicle.
Both papers will be made available in the Directorate for Defense Information, at 10 a.m. on the day of the briefing on an embargoed basis until the start of the briefing. Media or couriers without Pentagon access should use the Pentagon's Mall Entrance (not the Metro entrance) and call 697-5131/5134 from the telephone adjacent to the entrance security guard post to arrange for pick up/delivery of a copy of the narrative.
