United States Southern Command will formally dedicate its new headquarters in Miami, Fla. at 2 p.m. (EDT), Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997. The building will be dedicated to the memory of the late Gen. Maxwell R. Thurman, U.S. Army.
Gen. Hugh Shelton, chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, will join Florida Gov. Lawton Chiles and U.S. Senators Bob Graham and Connie Mack in dedicating the two story, 154,848 square-foot building located at 3511 N.W. 91st Avenue in the Westpointe Business Park, about four miles west of Miami International Airport.
