Gen. Shelton's Upcoming Trip to Korea and Japan
Gen. Henry H. Shelton, United States Army, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will depart Andrews Air Force Base on Tuesday, Nov. 11, for a visit to the Republic of Korea for security meetings with defense and military officials from the Republic of Korea and the United States.
On Wednesday, Nov. 12, the chairman will make a brief stop at Yokota, Japan, where he will meet with U.S. officials and his Japanese counterpart, Adm. Natsukawa Kazuya, chairman of the Joint Staff Council.
Shelton will arrive in Seoul on Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday, Nov. 13, Shelton will meet with Republic of Korea officials to include Minister of Defense Kim Dong Jin and Gen. Yoon Young Nam. He will then attend the 19th Military Committee Meeting and visit the Republic of Korea 1st Division. On Friday, Nov. 14, Shelton will join Secretary of Defense Cohen for the 29th Security Consultative Meeting. Later that afternoon, Shelton and Cohen will meet President Kim Yong Sam.
Prior to departing the Republic of Korea on Saturday, Nov. 15, Shelton will visit the Joint Security Area, the 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Red Cloud and Osan. He will return to Washington early Saturday evening.
