Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen will host a full honors arrival ceremony to welcome President Nursultan Nazarbayev, of the Republic of Kazakhstan, to the Pentagon at 3 p.m. (EST), Monday, Nov. 17, 1997. President Nazarbayev will be accompanied by his Minister of Defense Colonel-General Muhktar Altnybayev.
The ceremony will be held on the River Parade Field of the Pentagon.
Secretary Cohen and President Nazarbayev will sign a Plan of Cooperation between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Department of Defense of the United States of America for 1998. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Henry H. Shelton, U.S. Army, and Kazakhstan Minister of Defense Colonel-General Muhktar Altnybayev will sign a Program of Military Contacts between the United States of America and the Republic of Kazakhstan for 1998. The signing ceremony will be in Room 3E912 of the Pentagon at 3:45 p.m.
