No. 027-P:02/06/96:General John M. Shalikashvili, USA, Chai
General John M. Shalikashvili, USA, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will
depart Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland, on Tuesday, Feb. 6, for a visit to
Romania, Italy and Bosnia-Herzegovina. While in Romania he will meet with his
counterpart, General Dumitru Cioflina, Romanian President Ion Iliescu, Minister
of National Defense Gheorghe Tinca, and other senior government and military
officials to discuss topics of mutual interest and regional security.
On Friday, Feb. 9, General Shalikashvili will visit U.S. troops in Tuzla. He
will continue to Sarajevo for visits with NATO and IFOR commanders as well as
senior government officials in Bosnia-Herzegovina. General Shalikashvili will
return to Andrews AFB on Saturday, Feb. 10.
