General Shalikashvili will visit United States Southern Command in Panama.
Gen. John M. Shalikashvili, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of
Staff, will depart Andrews Air Force Base, Md., today for a visit
to the United States Southern Command in Panama. While in
Panama, Shalikashvili will officiate at the assumption of command
ceremony on June 26 for Gen. Wesley K. Clark, USA, who will
become the commander in chief, Southern Command. Clark was
formerly assigned as the director, Strategic Plans and Policy,
the Joint Staff, in the Pentagon.
