Gen. Shalikashvili to participate in NATO Military Committee meetings to be held in Portugal.
Gen. John M. Shalikashvili, USA, chairman of the Joint Chiefs
of Staff, will depart Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland, on
Sunday, September 8, 1996, to participate in NATO Military
Committee meetings to be held in Portugal. Discussions will
encompass European Security and Defense Identity, command
structure and other NATO issues.
On Wednesday, September 11, General Shalikashvili will depart
Lisbon and travel to Bosnia-Herzegovina for one-day talks with
IFOR commanders, civilian and military leaders, and U.S. troops.
A press conference is scheduled at the Coalition Press
Information Center in Sarajevo. He is tentatively scheduled to
return to Washington on Wednesday evening.
