Secretary Perry to Present Hammer Award
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry will present the
Heroes of Reinvention Hammer Award to more than 500 federal
employees and military personnel at 10 a.m. (EDT), Friday, Sept.
20, 1996, Fort Myer, Va. They compose thirteen process action
teams who completed a range of acquisition reform efforts,
including streamlining defense acquisition regulations,
developing and implementing the DoD-wide electronic commerce
strategy, and reducing defense-unique industrial specifications.
The ceremony includes remarks by Secretary Perry, Under
Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Technology Paul G.
Kaminski, and Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition
Reform Colleen A. Preston.
The event is open to the news media. Media should arrive at
Fort Myer via the Hatfield Gate. Fort Myer is located off I-395,
exit 8 (Route 27, Washington Blvd.). From there, follow the
signs to Fort Myer. The military police will direct all media to
Comny Hall.
