Gen. Shalikashvili will depart Andrews AFB for a visit with his new Russian counterpart.
Gen. John M. Shalikashvili, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of
Staff, will depart Andrews Air Force Base, Md., today for a visit
with his new Russian counterpart, Chief of the General Staff Gen.
Viktor Nikolayevich Samsonov. On Tuesday, Nov. 5, Gen.
Shalikashvili will meet with Gen. Samsonov to discuss topics of
mutual interest and regional security. A brief joint media
availability will occur at the Russian Ministry of Defense
followed by an afternoon press conference at the American Embassy
prior to Gen. Shalikashvili's return to Washington.
