Air Force, U.S. Postal Service to Unveil 50th Anniversary Commemorative Stamp
Secretary of the Air Force Sheila Widnall and Larry Speakes,
U.S. Postal Service senior vice president, Corporate and
Legislative Affairs, U.S. Postal Service, will unveil the design
of a commemorative postage stamp highlighting the United States
Air Force, the nation's youngest military service, at 2:30 p.m.
(EST), Thursday, Dec. 5, 1996 in the Pentagon Press briefing
studio, Room 2E781.
The first class stamp, commemorating the Air Force's 50
years as a separate service, depicts the service's air power
mission and the pride and professionalism of its members in blue.
The Postal Service will issue the stamp on the Air Force's golden
anniversary, Sept. 18, 1997.
The unveiling ceremony will precede the DoD Press Briefing.
