No. 042-P:02/14/95:Media are invited to the first Air Force
Media are invited to the first Air Force "Lightning Charge Special" Procurement
Fair at Bolling Air Force Base, D.C., February 16, 1995, from 8 a.m. to noon.
The event is unusual because, until now, area companies have not been permitted
to sell their goods and services to Air Force customers on the spot. Air Force
customers will come to the fair prepared to make routine supply purchases.
More than 15 companies will be on hand to offer technology demonstrations and
supplies, such as software, office machines, text processing systems, audio
visual equipment and general office supplies.
Anthony DeLuca, the Air Force small business director, will open the
procurement fair at the Bolling Leisure Center and make the first purchase. He
will also be available for interviews.
The fair has two main objectives. First, it will facilitate the new
micropurchase process (purchases under $2,500). Secondly, the fair will offer
area women-owned companies an opportunity to do business with the Air Force.
Media planning to attend or needing additional information should contact Capt.
Ray Cornelius, 11th Wing Public Affairs Office, (202) 676-4781, or Maj. Alvina
Mitchell, Air Force Public Affairs, (703) 695-0640.
