Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition and Technology Paul Kaminski and
Chief Operating Officer, Intel Corporation Craig R. Barrett will conduct a
media availability at 3:30 p.m., on Tuesday, March 28, 1995, at the Center for
Monitoring Research, 1300 North 17th Street, Suite 1450, Arlington, Va.,
following the second meeting of the Semiconductor Technology Council. Kaminski
and Barrett, co-chairmen of the Council, will announce two new members and
discuss the work of the four task forces established at the first meeting in
November 1994.
The Semiconductor Technology Council was established by the FY94 Defense
Authorization Act. Its mission is to link semiconductor industry and national
security needs to opportunities for cooperative investments, to foster
precompetitive cooperation among the semiconductor industry, government and
academia, and to recommend opportunities for new semiconductor research and
development efforts. The Council will serve a guiding function for SEMATECH
investment levels and technology goals, and update the nation's semiconductor
technology roadmap.
