Secretary of Defense William J. Perry will attend two VE-Day ceremonies,
Monday, May 8, 1995. He will also speak at a Holocaust Memorial
Commemoration.
At 7:30 a.m. (EDT), Secretary Perry, along with Secretary of Veterans Affairs
Jesse Brown; Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. John M. Shalikashvili; and
Maj. Gen. Fred A. Gorden, Commander, Military District of Washington, will
participate in a Full Honor Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown
Soldier, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
At 9 a.m. (EDT), Secretary Perry; Gen. Shalikashvili; Gen. Carl E. Mundy, Jr.,
Commandant of the Marine Corps; and Dr. Ruth B. Mandel, Vice Chairman of U.S.
Holocaust Memorial Council, will participate in a commemoration marking the
anniversary of the end of the Holocaust at the Holocaust Memorial Museum,
Eisenhower Plaza, Washington, D.C.
At 11 a.m. (EDT), Secretary and Mrs. Perry will attend a VE-Day Full Honor
Review Ceremony at Summerall Field, Fort Myer, Va. Also participating are
Secretary and Mrs. Brown, Gen. Shalikashvili, and Maj. Gen. Gorden.
