The U. S. Army will honor its "Communities of Excellence" in a Pentagon ceremony on May 11, 1995. Army Chief of Staff General Gordon R. Sullivan will host the 3 p.m. ceremony, which will take place on the lower parade field at the Pentagon River Entrance. A photo opportunity and reception will follow the ceremony.

The Army Communities of Excellence program promotes excellence in services and facilities for soldiers, civilians, and family members at Army installations. Thirty-nine communities of the Active Army, Army Reserve, and Army National Guard will be recognized as "Communities of Excellence." Delegations from a number of the winning communities will be present at the ceremony.

Awards will be presented by General Sullivan; Robert M. Walker, Assistant Secretary of the Army, Installations, Logistics, and Environment; and Sergeant Major of the Army Richard A. Kidd. Communities that receive monetary awards will use the money to further improve their installations.

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will take place in the Pentagon Auditorium, Room 5A1070.
