Secretary of Defense William J. Perry will announce an acquisition SingleProcess Initiative at a briefing in the DoD Briefing Studio, Room 2E871, onFriday, December 8, 1995, at noon (EST).
Under this initiative, defense contractors will develop plant-wide commonprocesses and performance standards for defense contracts.
New defensecontracts already require performance specifications.
However, this policywill direct contractors to consolidate or eliminate multiple processes,specifications and standards on a facility-wide basis, to include existingcontracts.
The change will result in long term benefits for both thegovernment and defense contractors.
