Gen. John M. Shalikashvili, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will departAndrews Air Force Base, Md., today for a visit to U.S. Southern Command inPanama.
During the visit to Panama, he will meet with senior U.S. civiliansand military officials and will make a courtesy call on President of PanamaErnesto Perez Balladares.
He will also visit U.S. Army South at Fort Clayton;Special Operations Command South at Albrook Air Force Station; 24th Wing atHoward Air Force Base; and U.S. Atlantic Fleet Detachment South at Rodman NavalStation.
The chairman will return to Washington, D.C. on December 14.
