The Pentagon Force Protection Agency will dedicate their Roll Call Room to Officer James M. Feltis III in a ceremony at 9 a.m. on May 18, 2007 in Room 6 of the Pentagon Conference Center.
On Jan. 11, 2005, a stolen vehicle that was fleeing a marked Alexandria police cruiser struck Officer Feltis. The operator of the stolen vehicle turned onto the Pentagon reservation and traveled the wrong way on South Rotary Road at a high rate of speed. When the vehicle approached his location, Feltis attempted to initiate a traffic stop and was struck as the vehicle continued traveling at a high rate of speed the wrong way up the on-ramp to the Pentagon reservation.
The 41-year-old, 12-year veteran of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency, never regained consciousness and died on Feb. 14, 2005.
The three officers who apprehended the driver of the vehicle that struck and killed Feltis will be awarded the Department of Defense Medal of Valor at the dedication ceremony. They are Lt. John Kinnard, Sgt. David Queen and Officer William Caouette.
