DoD Announces Activation of Unified Geographic Command
Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates, Chairman of the of Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Michael G. Mullen and Commander, United States Africa Command General William E. Ward will participate in the U.S. Africa Command activation ceremony on Oct. 1, 2:15 p.m. EDT, in the Pentagon Conference Center Room B6. U.S. Africa Command will serve as the sixth unified geographic command within the Department of Defense.
Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the North Parking Entrance only. Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification. Please call (703) 697-1253 for escort into the building. |
