The Department of Defense (DoD) will host a “Spirit of Service” event on Wednesday, May 8 at 11:30 a.m. in the Pentagon Library and Conference Center Room B6. All DoD employees in the national capital region are invited to attend.
The event will feature remarks by Ashton B. Carter, deputy secretary of defense, and Michael L. Rhodes, the director of administration and management.
Representatives from the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Joint Staff, and the military services will recognize 34 outstanding Department of Defense civilian public servants from across the national capital areas who display the core qualities of honor, integrity and excellence in their everyday service. Thomas R. Lamont, assistant secretary of the Army, Manpower & Reserve Affairs
Robert C. Martinage, deputy undersecretary of the Navy for Plans, Policy, Oversight and Integration
Lt. Gen. Curtis M. Scaparrotti, director of the Joint Staff.
