Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness Charles S. Abell will host the Department of Defense 2003 Observance of National Women's History Month at 1:30 p.m. EST, on March 20, 2003, at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial, located at the Ceremonial Entrance to Arlington National Cemetery.
The Deputy Director of Advisory Services for Defense Civilian Personnel Management Service Marilee Fitzgerald and Army Reserve Command Sergeant Major Michele S. Jones will serve as guest speakers for the event.
The theme this year is "Women Pioneering the Future." The video, "Above and Beyond: 100 Years of Women in Aviation," will be viewed during the ceremony. Additionally, the exhibition "Quilts from the Heart," comprised of 80 quilts from around the world that were donated to the Pentagon, following the Sept. 11 attack on the Pentagon, will be on display.
