Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Installations and Environment Raymond F. DuBois Jr. will speak at the 30th Department of Defense Explosives Safety Seminar in Atlanta, Tuesday, Aug. 13, at 9 a.m. EDT.
The seminar will be held in the Marquis Ballroom at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis Hotel, 265 Peachtree Center Avenue and will be open for media coverage from 9 - 10 a.m., EDT. The Department of Defense Explosives Safety Board sponsors the seminar, which is responsible for oversight of explosives and chemical agent safety in the development, manufacture, testing, maintenance, demilitarization, handling, transportation and storage of ammunition and explosives.
DuBois will speak on the latest advances in explosives safety, as well as the Department's recent initiative to balance environmental conservation while supporting realistic military training. While in the Atlanta area, DuBois will also visit Fort McPherson, home of the Army Forces Command, Third Army and the Army Reserve Command.
DuBois, is the senior DoD official responsible for oversight and policy guidance for all military installations and environmental programs.
