DoD to Announce Results of No Gun Ri Review
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen will make a statement on relations between the U.S. and the Republic of Korea (RoK) today at 5 p.m. EST, in the DoD briefing studio, Pentagon room 2E781. Immediately following the secretary's statement, Charles L. Cragin, principal deputy assistant secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs, and Patrick T. Henry, assistant secretary of the Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs, will brief reporters on the collaborative efforts between the U.S. and RoK to describe what happened at No Gun Ri during late June 1950, the Statement of Mutual Understanding between the U.S. and RoK, and the Army Inspector General's (IG) report into the No Gun Ri incident.
In keeping with the Department's pledge for a full public accounting of the facts of what happened at No Gun Ri, the IG's official report will be posted on the Army web site at http://www.army.mil at 5 p.m. EST today. Cohen's statement and the Statement of Mutual Understanding will be posted on DefenseLINK at http://www.defenselink.mil , also at 5 p.m. EST today.
There will not be a regular DoD press briefing today.
