General Shelton to visit Brazil, Argentina and Chile
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Henry H. Shelton, departed this morning from Andrews Air Force Base, Md., to visit counterparts in Brazil, Argentina and Chile.
Shelton will arrive in Brazilia, Brazil, this evening and visit Rio de Janeiro tomorrow. He continues to Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Wednesday, Mar. 21, and visits Santiago, Chile, on Thursday, Mar. 22. The purpose of the trip is to discuss defense issues of mutual interest with leading government and military officials and to gain first-hand knowledge of military institutions in the area.
Shelton will return to Washington on Friday, Mar. 23.
