Farewell Tribute and Hail Ceremony in Honor of General Richard B. Myers and General Peter Pace
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld will host an armed forces farewell tribute and an armed forces hail ceremony in honor of Air Force Gen. Richard B. Myers, the 15th chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Marine Corps Gen. Peter Pace, 16th chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at 10 a.m. EDT, Friday, Sept. 30 on Summerall Field at Fort Myer, Va. The ceremony will conclude with a joint service pass in review and flyover.
Myers has completed more than 40 years in uniform. He was appointed the 15th chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on Oct. 1, 2001, and reappointed to a second two-year term in 2003.
Pace will assume the duties as chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff on Sept. 30, 2005. He served as vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from Oct. 1, 2001, to Aug. 12, 2005.
