Armed Forces Tribute and Welcoming Ceremony Honors Gens. Ralston and Myers
Gen. Joseph W. Ralston and Gen. Richard B. Myers will be honored at a tribute and welcoming ceremony on Tues., Feb. 29, 2000, at Conmy Hall, Fort Myer, Va., at 10:30 a.m. EST. The Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Henry H. Shelton, will co-host the ceremony.
Ralston has been selected for reassignment as supreme allied commander, Europe, and commander in chief, U.S. European Command. He will assume the positions later this spring.
Myers will be sworn in as the fifth vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the nation's second highest-ranking military officer. Myers most recently served as commander in chief, North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Space Command.
