Army Gen. Henry H. Shelton, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will depart Andrews Air Force Base, Md., on Sunday, June 4, 2000, for counterpart meetings and a routine troop visit to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. He will also attend NATO meetings in Brussels, Belgium on June 8-9.
In Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, June 6, Shelton will participate in the U.S. Military Training Mission change of command ceremony; meet with his Saudi counterpart, General Saleh bin Ali bin Al-Muhayya, Chief of the Saudi General Staff; and visit U.S. troops at Prince Sultan Air Base.
On Wednesday June 7, in Kuwait, Shelton will meet with His Excellency Shaykh Salim al-Sabah al-Salim Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti Minister of Defense; and then visit U.S. Task Force 1-9 Calvary soldiers.
Shelton will attend NATO ministerial meetings in Brussels, Belgium on June 8-9. He returns to Washington, D.C. on Friday, June 9.
