The U.S. Air Force will host a Korean War Airpower Symposium on Wednesday, June 7, 2000, in the Senate Hart Office Building, Room 902, in remembrance of the 50th anniversary of the Korean War.
The program, Silver Wings, Golden Valor: The USAF Remembers Korea, will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. Featured speakers include Secretary of the Air Force F. Whitten Peters, and Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Michael E. Ryan. They will provide their views on how the Korean War affected the way America uses airpower and the implications the war had on today's Air Force.
Other airpower experts and veterans who fought in the Korean War will provide personal insight into such subjects as air dominance, precision engagement, mobility and reconnaissance. Panel discussions will also cover lessons learned in the skies over Korea and how the Air Force applied them to the skies over Kosovo.
