CONTRACTS
Dawson Building Contractors Inc., Gadsden, Ala., is being
awarded a $10,909,720 firm fixed price contract for construction
of a Special Operations Forces (SOF) Support Battalion Complex
consisting of a new Organization Direct Support (DS) maintenance
facility, supply and medical warehouse, and two company
operations facilities, to include intrusion detection systems,
fire detection and protection systems. The DS maintenance
facility will include a vehicle maintenance shop, oil storage
building, deployment storage shop, hardstands and organizational
vehicle parking. Supporting facilities include nonorganizational
vehicle parking, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, storm drainage,
erosion control, utility services, landscaping, and information
systems. Heating and air conditioning will be provided by a self-
contained system. Work will be performed at Fort Bragg, N.C.,
and is expected to be completed by Dec. 30, 1998. Contract funds
will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There
were 96 bids solicited on Dec. 22, 1996, and nine bids were
received. The contracting activity is the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers, Savannah, Ga. (DACA21-97-C-0035).
Science Applications International Corp., San Diego, Calif.,
is being awarded a $9,894,582 modification to a firm fixed
price/time and materials contract for the continued exercise of
contract options for the Lightweight Computer Unit (LCU), which
consists of computers, peripherals, Tactical Communications
Interface Module (TCIM), special purpose boards, software,
cables, technical assistance, support service, and maintenance.
Version 2 (V2) is a collection of commercially available hardware
and software products, ruggedized to meet military requirements.
Work will be performed in San Diego, Calif., and is expected to
be completed by May 15, 2001. Of the total contract funds
$325,530 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
There were 409 bids solicited on Aug. 31, 1990, and six bids were
received. The contracting activity is the U.S. Army
Communications and Electronics Command, Ft. Monmouth, N.J.
(DAAB07-96-C-E003).

Datatape, Inc., Monrovia, Calif., is being awarded a
$22,149,178 indefinite-delivery/requirements contract with fixed
unit prices to supply record amplifier cards, motor control unit
cards, Transport-Azimuths, power supply assemblies, digital
recorders, variable rate buffers, portable high density
recorders, and power supplies in support of the High Density
Digital Recorder subsystem of the AN/BQH-9(V)1 Signal Data
Recording Set. Work will be performed in Monrovia, Calif., and
is expected to be completed by May 2002. Contract funds will not
expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was
not competitively procured. The Naval Surface Warfare Center,
Carderock Div., West Bethesda, Md., is the contracting activity
(N00167-97-D-0027).
Harris Corp., RF Communications Div., Rochester, N.Y., is
being awarded an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, firm-
fixed-price contract with a ceiling of $26,495,930 for the
procurement of medium frequency/high frequency base station and
vehicle communication systems required to support Navy Explosive
Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Beach Groups, and Construction Forces.
Work will be performed in Rochester, N.Y., and is expected to be
completed by May 2002. Contract funds would not have expired at
the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was
competitively procured with 39 proposals solicited and two offers
received. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division,
Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity (N00421-97-D-
1388).
DynTel Corp., Atlanta, Ga., is being awarded an $8,857,578
indefinite-delivery/ indefinite-quantity, cost-plus-fixed-fee,
level-of-effort term contract for information technology support
services in support of the Naval Education and Training
Professional Development and Technology Center (NETPDTC) in
Pensacola, Fla. This contract includes options which, if
exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to
$41,485,846. Work will be performed in Pensacola, Fla. (49%);
Great Lakes, Ill. (19%); San Diego, Calif. (6%); Orlando, Fla.
(5%); Norfolk, Va. (5%); Corpus Christie, Texas (5%); Meridian,
Miss. (3%); Kings Bay, Ga. (2%); Groton, Conn. (2%); Virginia
Beach, Va. (2%); and Bremerton, Wash. (2%), and is expected to be
completed by September 2001. Contract funds will not expire at
the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was
competitively procured with 383 proposals solicited and four
offers received. The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center,
Norfolk Detachment, Philadelphia, Pa., is the contracting
activity (N00140-97-D-0674).
BBN Systems and Technologies, Cambridge, Mass., is being
awarded a $29,404,593 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for research
and development of integrated signature-reduction systems. Work
will be performed in Cambridge, Mass., and is expected to be
completed by June 2002. Contract funds in the amount of $570,421
will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract
was competitively procured under a Broad Agency Announcement with
one offer received. The Office of Naval Research, Arlington,
Va., is the contracting activity (N00014-97-C-0075).
