ARMY

GTE Government Systems Corp., Taunton, Mass., is being awarded a $20,582,305 modification to a firm-fixed-price contract for incorporation of abynchronous transfer mode (ATM) upgrade into the first digitized division, 124th Signal Battalion, to improve data throughput of circuit switch networks. Work will be performed in Taunton, Mass., and is expected to be completed by Dec. 30, 2000 (basic year). Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This is a sole source contract initiated on Feb. 2, 1998. The contracting activity is the U.S. Army Communications & Electronics Command, Ft. Monmouth, N.J. (DAAB07-86-C-K022).

PRIMEX Technologies Inc., Marion, Ill., is being awarded a $15,870,684 firm-fixed-price contract for 1,822,750 each, 30 mm PGU-15/B cartridges in support of the A-10 Thunderbolt. Work will be performed in Marion, Ill., and is expected to be completed by Nov. 30, 1999. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were two bids solicited on April 17, 1998, and two bids were received. The contracting activity is the U.S. Army Armament, Munitions & Chemical Command, Rock Island, Ill. (DAAA09-98-C-0054).

Alliant Techsystems, Hopkins, Minn., is being awarded a $13,945,992 firm-fixed-price contract for 1,491,550 each, 30 mm PGU-15/B cartridges in support of the A-10 Thunderbolt. Work will be performed in Radford, Va. (44%); Wilmington, Ill. (29%); New Brighton, Minn. (22%); Toone, Tenn. (3%); and Elk River, Minn. (2%), and is expected to be completed by Nov. 30, 1999. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were two bids solicited on April 17, 1998, and two bids were received. The contracting activity is the U.S. Army Armament, Munitions & Chemical Command, Rock Island, Ill. (DAAA09-98-C-0055).

AIR FORCE

Lockheed Martin Corp., Marietta Ga., is being awarded a $28,000,000 face value increase to a firm-fixed-price-contract to provide for conversion of 5 C-130J aircraft to the KC-130J tanker configuration for the Marine Corps. Expected contract completion date is December, 2000. Aeronautical Systems Center, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, is the contracting activity (F33657-95-C-2055-P00012).

Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space Company, King of Prussia, Pa., is being awarded a $10,000,000 face value increase to a fixed-price with economic price adjustment contract to provide for modification of retrofit upgrades to the Crosslink Transponder Data Unit on two Global Positioning System Block IIR spacecraft. Expected contract completion date is May 19, 1999. Negotiation completion date was May 25, 1998. Space and Missile Systems Center, Los Angeles, Calif., is the contracting activity (F04701-95-C-0029/P00037).

Northrop Grumman Corp., Pico Rivera, Calif., is being awarded a $23,188,192 face value increase to a fixed-price-incentive with award-fee-and-firm-fixed-price-contract to provide for relocation of software development laboratories and personnel supporting the B-2 aircraft to Tinker Air Force base, Okla. Expected contract completion date is June, 2000. Solicitation issue date was July 25, 1997. Negotiation completion date was June 17, 1998. Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, Tinker AFB, Okla., is the contracting activity (F34601-95-C-0694-P00029).

DSE Inc., Orlando, Fla., is being awarded a $7,587,956 fixed-price-incentive-firm/time-and-materials/cost-reimbursable-contract to provide for 1644 (976 for the Air Force, 668 for the Navy) FMU-152/B Joint Programmable Fuzes applicable to the Joint Direct Attack Munition and other general purpose and guided bomb units. There were 19 firms solicited and 3 proposals received. Expected contract completion date is August 2000. Solicitation issue date was March 23, 1998. Aeronautical Systems Center, Eglin AFB, Fla., is the contracting activity (F08626-98-C-0006).

NAVY

Westinghouse Electric Corp., Machinery Apparatus Operation, Schenectady, N.Y., is being awarded a $38,107,828 modification to previously awarded contract N00024-96-C-4052 for naval nuclear propulsion components. Work will be performed Schenectady, N.Y. No completion date or additional information is provided on nuclear propulsion contracts. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Arlington, Va., is the contracting activity. (Mod P00008).

Westinghouse Electric Corp., Plant Apparatus Division, Pittsburgh, Penn., is being awarded a $23,789,791 modification to previously awarded contract N00024-96-C-4050 for naval nuclear propulsion components. Work will be performed Pittsburgh, Penn. No completion date or additional information is provided on nuclear propulsion contracts. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Arlington, Va., is the contracting activity. (Mod P00010).

Digital System Resources, Inc., Fairfax, Va., is being awarded a $15,456,000 not-to-exceed, cost-plus-incentive-fee, letter contract for six TB-16/23 towed array multipurpose processors, and two TB-16/23/29 towed array multipurpose processors to support the acoustic rapid commercial off the shelf insertion program. Work will be performed in Manassas, Va. (90%), and Fairfax, Va. (10%), and is expected to be completed by June 1999. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. Dow Chemical Company, Midland, Mich., is being awarded a $7,847,133 cost-sharing contract for professional engineering services for the research and development of advanced electro-active polymeric materials and devices suitable for use in the fabrication of devices of interest to the Department of Defense. Areas of particular interest include electro-active polymers which exhibit muscle-like behavior and are suitable for use as actuators in small robotic devices; electro-active polymers and devices that can be synthesized with micro-structures that can function as analog computation devices in the area of image processing; and electro-active polymers and devices that can interact with electro-magnetic radiation to change electro-magnetic wave material interaction characteristics under active control. The Government will fund 77% of the total contract amount. Work will be performed in Midland, Mich. (80%), and Patuxent River, Md. (10%), and is expected to be completed by May 2002. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured from a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) broad agency announcement and five offers were received. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity (N00421-98-C-1187).

Southwest Marine, Inc., San Diego, Calif., is being awarded a $5,762,239 cost-plus-award-fee option for accomplishment of the post shakedown availability for the DDG 51 class AEGIS Destroyer designated DDG 73 USS DECATUR. Work will be performed in San Diego, Calif., and is expected to be completed by April 1999. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured with eight proposals solicited and two offers received. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Arlington, Va., is the contracting activity (N00024-96-C-2301).

Ball Aerospace and Technologies Corp., Broomfield, Colo., is being awarded a $5,527,000 firm-fixed-price contract for the remanufacture of 23 NATO Seasparrow MK 6 Mod 1 low light level television systems which is part of the surface missile system fire control system. Work will be performed in Broomfield, Colo., and is expected to be completed by January 2000. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. McDonnell Douglas, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, St. Louis, Miss., is being awarded a $5,292,874 firm-fixed-price contract for the acquisition of supplies and services required for the development of consolidated automated support system test program sets for five T-45 aircraft weapon replaceable assemblies. Work will be performed in St. Louis, Miss., and is expected to be completed by January 1999. Contract funds in the amount of $3,190,898 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
