Octant Technologies, Inc., Sunnyvale, Calif., was awarded on Nov. 2, 1998, a $7,839,205 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract to provide for the Micro-Satellite Integrated Software Development program. This effort will involve research and development services for software systems engineering, analysis and simulation, design, integration and test, launch support and on-orbit operations support for micro-satellites. Lockheed Martin Corp., Vought Systems, Grand Prairie, Texas, is being awarded an $11,031,668 increment as part of a $121,069,876 cost-plus-award-fee contract for an international cooperative development effort with the United States, France, Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom for the engineering and manufacturing development of the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System. The objective is to design, develop, integrate, test, qualify, prepare for production and document an acceptable design for a maintenance free guided rocket and rocket pod. The full cost will be shared 50% United States and 50% European participants. The European contribution will be shared equally between the European participants. Work will be performed in Grand Prairie, Texas (95%), and Camden, Ark. (5%), and is expected to be completed by Oct. 29, 2002. Of the total contract funds, $11,031,668 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This is a sole source contract initiated on Sept. 15, 1997. Northrop Grumman Corp., Electronic Sensors and Systems Division, Linthicum, Md., is being awarded a $6,803,372 increment as part of a $14,769,781 (total if all options are exercised) cost-plus-fixed-fee-completion contract. The contractor will perform hardware/software design and development and system integration for the residual phase of the Semi-Automated IMINT Processing (SAIP) Residual System Program. The contractor will be responsible for design and integration of a large multiprocessor hardware suite in a three-rack configuration suitable for insertion into an imagery exploitation system. It will port existing software developed under the Enhanced SAIP development program into this new hardware configuration and will modify this software for increased throughput, enhanced robustness and appropriate new input/output interfaces. It will also act as integrator in all regards including development of residual system specifications; control and revision of design description documents; and coordination of integration testing, military exercises, and demonstrations. A fully integrated SAIP residual system will be available for test and integration by mid-1999. Work will be performed in Linthicum, Md. (44%); Mountain View, Calif. (32%); Melbourne, Fla. (5%); Philadelphia, Pa. (5%); Waltham, Mass. (3%); Ann Arbor, Mich. (2%); Norwalk, Conn. (2%); and various other locations (7%), and is expected to be completed by Sept. 14, 1999.
