The Boeing Company, Wichita, Kan., is being awarded a $17,500,000 letter-contract to provide for 106 Reduced Vertical Separation Minimums kits applicable to the KC-135 aircraft. These kits provide an enhanced altitude and airspeed measuring capability that will allow aircraft to fly closer to one another. Expected contract completion date is Nov. 30, 1999. Caddell Construction Corp., Montgomery, Ala., is being awarded an $11,100,000 firm-fixed-price contract to design/build military family housing. The project consists of the demolition of eight buildings (FY99) totaling 56 family housing units, which include asbestos abatement, site restoration, and the construction of 82 two-bedroom units. There are three options. Option #1 (FY00) is for the demolition of 11 buildings totaling 88 family housing units, which includes asbestos abatement, site restoration, and the construction of an additional 72 three-bedroom units. Option #2 and Option #3 are for the demolition of one building for each option totaling 16 family housing units which includes asbestos abatement, site restoration, and the construction of 16 three-bedroom units. The design includes replacement/upgrade of utility systems and roads, heating by natural gas, cooling by air conditioning, energy-efficient lighting and appliances, dual-pane energy efficient windows, hard-wired smoke detectors, ground fault receptacles, landscaping, garages, driveways, street lighting, utility services and meters, storm drainage, and walks. Work will be performed at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., and is expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 1999. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were 45 bids solicited on July 27, 1998, and four bids were received. The contracting activity is the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Sacramento, Calif. (DACA05-99-C-0014).
