One hundred fifty proposals were solicited, and six were received. Work will be performed in La Mirada, Calif., and is expected to be completed by Oct. 1, 2000. Systems and Electronics Inc., St. Louis, Mo., is being awarded an $18,887,327 cost-plus-award-fee contract to provide for design, development, and production of retrofit kits to enhance the reliability of the 60,000-pound Loader. The Tunner Loader is a mobile vehicle that is used to load and unload pallets from transport aircraft. There was one firm solicited and one proposal received. Expected contract completion date is June 2003. Solicitation issue date was June 1999. Negotiation completion date was June 16, 1999. McDonnell Douglas Corp., Berkeley, Mo., is being awarded a $26,800,000 modification to firm-fixed-price contract F08626-94-C-0003/P00147 to provide for low-rate initial production of 1,308 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) kits. JDAM is a strap-on kit with Inertial Navigation System/Global Positioning System capability that will provide an improved aerial delivery capability for existing 1000- and 2000-pound bombs. Expected contract completion date is June 2001. Solicitation issue date was June 11, 1999. Air Armament Center, Eglin AFB, Fla., is the contracting activity.

General Electric Aircraft Engines, General Electric Co., Lynn, Mass., is being awarded a $22,000,000 advance acquisition contract for long lead hardware for the fiscal year 2000 full-rate production procurement of 72 F414-GE-400 engines, devices, and production tooling for the F/A-18E/F aircraft. Work will be performed in Lynn, Mass. (58%); Evendale, Ohio (25%); Rutland, Vt. (4%); Albuquerque, N.M. (4%); Hooksett, N. H. (3%); Madisonville, Ky (4%); and Wilmington, N.C. (2%), and is expected to be completed by May 2000. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was not competitively procured. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity (N00019-99-C-1175).
