NAVY

Newport News Shipbuilding, Newport News, Va, is executing a $6,702,610 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract modification to previously awarded contract N00024-97-C-4001 for standard Navy valve yard planning yard services for Nuclear powered submarines and submersibles. Work will be performed in Newport News, and is expected to be completed by September 2001. Contract funds in the amount of $5,393,179 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was not competitively procured. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Arlington, Va., is the contracting activity.

AMTEC Corp., Janesville, Wis., is receiving a $5,596,180 firm-fixed-price delivery order for 2,000 MK 59 Mod 0 Firing Devices and 9,551 MK 59 Mod 0 Firing Devices. MK 59 Mod 0 Firing Devices are electronic devices used on land or underwater to initiate explosive charges and can be used as a stand-alone or with various pieces of equipment. Work will be performed in Janesville, and is expected to be completed by October 2002. Contract funds in the amount of $792,685 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured with 30 proposals solicited and four offers received. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, Crane, Ind., is the contracting activity (N00164-99-D-0025).

Concurrent Technologies, Inc., Johnstown, Pa., is being awarded a $5,338,588 cost-plus-fixed-fee completion contract to prototype and demonstrate a tabletop-like work surface that will enable users to view and interact with 3D-immersive scenes. This system, a command center tool, will allow the user to navigate through and manipulate the virtual battlespace by use of electromagnetic tracking and other devices. The successful demonstration of this innovative visualization system will provide operational commanders with improved visual awareness of their battlespace environment. Work will be performed in Johnstown, and is expected to be completed by September 2001. Contract funds will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured through a Broad Agency Announcement with one offer received. The Office of Naval Research, Arlington, Va., is the contracting activity (N00014-99-C-0609).
