Western Contracting Corp. of Sioux City, Iowa, is being awarded a $5,481,865.00 firm fixed-price contract to construct an environmental habitat creation project. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The project will consist of a pump station and an intake structure, two large culverts, two supply channels for a total of two miles and 12 control structures. A total of 64 bids were solicited on Oct. 24, 2001, and four bids were received. The estimated completion date is Oct. 31, 2004. Work will be performed in Decatur, Neb., (50%), and Onawa, Iowa (50%).
