CONTRACTS

 

MISSILE DEFENSE AGENCY

 

            Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company of Sunnyvale, Calif. is being awarded an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity cost-plus-award-fee contract for the development and demonstration of a miniature kill vehicle (MKV) system.  The maximum value of the contract is $768,000,000 performed over an eight-year period. The first task order for $27,000,000 will be awarded simultaneously with the contract award.  The MKV program will be managed by MDA Advanced Systems, which is responsible for developing advanced capabilities for integration into the Ballistic Missile Defense System.   The MKV contract will be executed for MDA Advanced Systems by the U. S. Army Space and Missile Defense Technical Center in Huntsville, Alabama.  The MKV system will deploy multiple, small kill vehicles from a single carrier vehicle.  The integrated payload will be designed to fit on existing and planned interceptor boosters.  The resulting system will be capable of engaging multiple midcourse targets from a single launcher, adding firepower and robustness to midcourse defenses.  The initial program focus will be on the design and demonstration of the kill vehicle.  The MKV system will be designed to integrate seamlessly into the Ballistic Missile Defense System with initial focus on its Ground-based Midcourse Defense element.

 

NAVY

 

            Raytheon Technical Services Co., Indianapolis, Ind., is being awarded a $101,128,322 ceiling priced modification to a previously awarded firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract (N00421-02-D-3073) to exercise an option for systems engineering, software engineering, technical, manufacturing, life cycle, and facilities support for various Naval Air Systems Command program offices.  Work will be performed in Indianapolis, Ind., and is expected to be completed in January 2005.  Approximately $10,200,000 contract funds will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  The Naval Air Systems Command, Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.

 

            Dyncorp International, Fort Worth, Texas, is being awarded a $9,943,994 delivery order against a previously awarded indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity time and materials contract (N00019-02-D-3208) for organizational, intermediate, and depot-level aircraft maintenance and modification support for the V-22 integrated test team.  Work will be performed at Patuxent River, Md., and is expected to be completed in December 2004.  Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md. is the contracting activity.

 

            Fabrique Nationale Herstal, S.A. (FN Herstal), Herstal, Belgium, is being awarded a $9,612,445 firm-fixed-priced contract for the procurement of 136 M3M .50 caliber machine guns and 24 spare M3M machine guns.  Work will be performed in Herstal, Belgium (76.6%); Johnston, Pa. (12.2%); Somerset, Pa. (6.2%); Blairsville, Pa. (3.9%); and Nicktown, Pa. (1.1%) and is expected to be completed in May 2005.  Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  This contract was not competitively procured.  The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md. is the contracting activity (N00019-03-C-0061).

 

ARMY

 

            AM General Corp., South Bend, Ind., was awarded on Jan. 6, 2004, a $45,506,725 modification to a firm-fixed-price contract for procurement of 575 M1114 chassis for the high mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicle.  Work will be performed in South Bend, Ind., and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2007.  Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  This was a sole source contract initiated on July 17, 2000.  The U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Warren, Mich., is the contracting activity (DAAE07-01-C-S001).

 

            AeroVironment Corp.*, Monrovia, Calif., was awarded on Jan. 2, 2004, a $20,700,000 firm-fixed-price/cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for procurement of 170 small unmanned aerial vehicles - RAVEN.  Work will be performed in Simi Valley, Calif., and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2004.  Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  This was a sole source contract initiated on Dec. 19, 2003.  The U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal, Ala., is the contracting activity (W58RGZ-04-C-0025).

 

AIR FORCE

 

            The Boeing Co., Seal Beach, Calif., is being awarded an $11,915,783 cost-plus award-fee contract modification to provide for continued development of modernization upgrades to the Global Positioning System Block IIF satellite.  At this time, $85,419,488 (incremental funding) of the funds has been obligated.  Further funds will be obligated as individual delivery orders are issued.  This work will be complete by February 2004.  The Headquarters Space and Missile Systems Center, Los Angeles Air Force Base, Calif., is the contracting activity (F04701-96-C-0025, P00270).
