In order to simplify, streamline, and save resources, the Department of Defense is utilizing Electronic Commerce to move toward a paperless environment.

To take advantage of electronic commerce, the Department plans to adopt a DoD-wide electronic environment by 2010 and institute best business practices and technologies.

These initiatives will enable an easy exchange of information and a rapid response to warfighter needs.
