Defense Reform Initiative Directives (DRIDs)

After the DRI report was released in November 1997, Defense Reform Initiative Directives (DRIDs) were released covering issues that required reports to the Deputy Secretary of Defense on the implementation status of most of the initiatives identified in a DRID or report. Many new ideas emerged for changing the way we do business. Sometimes they took the form of DRIDs and others were informal reviews.
