| The Dutch submarine HNLMS Dolfijn marks the beginning of the NATO submarine escape and rescue exercise Sorbet Royal 2005 when it conducts a low-pressure blow during pre-underway checks in Taranto Naval Base Mar Grande, Italy, June 19, 2005. Four submarines will be placed on the bottom (each with up to 52 men aboard) while rescue forces with a range of sophisticated rescue vehicles and systems work together to solve complex disaster rescue problems in a variety of difficult scenarios. Divers from various nations will work together to rescue submariners during the exercise in the Mediterranean off the coast of Taranto, Italy June 17-30, 2005.
